What is the difference between flat bed cnc lathe and slant bed cnc lathe?

Flat bed CNC lathes and Slant bed CNC lathes are two common lathe types, and the main difference between them is the design of the bed and the way it is turned.

Flat bed CNC lathe: The bed of the flat bed lathe is horizontal, the workpiece is placed on the bed and clamped, and the tool is turned in the horizontal direction. This design is suitable for symmetrical workpieces, and the symmetry requirements are high.

Slant bed CNC lathe: The bed of the inclined bed lathe is inclined, the workpiece is placed on the bed and clamped, and the tool is turned in an oblique direction. This design can better eliminate chips, improve turning efficiency, suitable for symmetric and asymmetric workpieces.

In general, inclined bed lathes have advantages in turning efficiency and workpiece processing range, while flat bed lathes are more suitable for workpiece processing with higher symmetry requirements. The choice of lathe depends on the specific processing needs and workpiece characteristics.
